I’m not the only one in my family passionate about food. My brother, who is a food and beverage director in Atlanta, was just featured in the Atlanta Business Chronicle.

He works for The Commerce Club, a prestigious club in Atlanta where members can dine with a truly custom experience. He often tells me about the exquisite menus that he works with the chef to create. And each meal is paired with a selection of complementing drinks.

He’s a level I sommelier, but his true passion is bourbon. At an early age, he taught me the difference between bourbon and whiskey – it can only be called bourbon if it’s made in Kentucky.

At his club, they serve a Woodford Reserve that he helped select with a master distiller in Kentucky, but he’s a fan of whiskey, too. The club even has a whiskey society. What a fun concept!

Although my brother enjoys his bourbon straight-up, on the rocks, he appreciates that others may prefer to take away the bite. At the club, they’ve created a Georgia-inspired Peach Julep using their signature bourbon.

First, they muddle fresh peaches and mint. Then, they pour in ginger simple syrup, bourbon and ginger beer. Sounds refreshing!

Place the first four ingredients in a blender and pulse until smooth. Add the bourbon and pulse to combine.I’ve created a peach and bourbon drink in celebration of my brother. It’s made with almond milk to give it a smooth, nutty taste and honey for a hint of sweetness.

If you’re in the Atlanta area, and you want to check out the Commerce Club, here’s their event calendar. There is always an exciting food or drink tasting happening.
