Easy Blue Cheese Dressing Recipe

Thiss blue cheese dressing was inspired by my trip to Jamaica. During this trip, I ate Caribbean Jerk Chicken sandwiches, and they had this delicious blue cheese dressing on them. Once I got home, I knew I had to make it myself. 

This recipe is super easy to make, just like my Caesar dressing. You only need 6 simple ingredients and you can make the best blue cheese dressing you’ve ever had and avoid all those preservatives in the store-bought bottled stuff. 

This recipe uses plain Greek yogurt as the creamy base, adding some protein to the dressing, but you could use sour cream, mayonnaise or regular plain yogurt if you like. I also used apple cider vinegar to add a bit of tanginess.

Ingredients for homemade blue cheese dressing

  • Fage Plain Greek yogurt: Use two percent or five percent fat for creaminess. 
  • Bleu cheese: Use any kind of blue cheese you like. You can use pre-crumbled blue cheese or a wedge of blue cheese and make blue cheese crumbles yourself.
  • Apple cider vinegar: Adds a bit of tangy flavor. You could also use white wine vinegar if you prefer. A touch of lemon juice would also work. 
  • Milk: Use any kind of cow’s milk you like. This helps thin out the dressing to your desired consistency. If you prefer a thicker dressing, don’t use as much milk and vice versa. 
  • Kosher salt
  • Black pepper

How to make your own blue cheese dressing

  1. Whisk: Whisk together all the ingredients.


Use a blender, food processor or immersion blender to make creamy blue cheese dressing. If you like chunky blue cheese dressing, simply mix the ingredients together.

How to serve homemade blue cheese dressing

Serve blue cheese dressing drizzled over salads or sandwiches or as a dipping sauce for fresh veggies, roasted veggies like grilled artichokes or crispy grilled beer wings. I also love spreading it over my homemade hamburger buns and making Caribbean Jerk chicken sandwiches.


Blue cheese dressing can be stored in a mason jar in the refrigerator for one week.

I made my dressing too thin. What should I do?

If you made your dressing too thin, you can add more Greek yogurt and/or blue cheese to thicken it up. 

What else can I add to this creamy dressing?

Feel free to add herbs like fresh parsley to your dressing for extra flavor. If you want to amp up the intensity, adding minced fresh garlic would also be tasty.
