Looking for a new way to keep your kids entertained this summer? My friend over at Peanut Butter and Julie has just the solution. She’s launching a new video series this summer on how to decorate beautiful sugar cookies.

For years, her creations have impressed me. Each cookie is a like a piece of art – almost too pretty to eat.

Peanut Butter and Julie's Sugar Cookies

When I started following her feed on Instagram, I was amazed and admittedly a little embarrassed about what my sugar cookies looked like. Julie changed all of that. She gave me a copy of her book 100 Best Decorated Cookies and encouraged me to follow her steps to create my own art.

Last Christmas, I attempted to recreate her snowflake design, and I was really happy with my first attempt … and so were my friends and family members who had a couple snowflake cookies tucked into their holiday treat boxes.

Along with delicious sugar cookie and icing recipes, Julie’s book walks you through all of the icing techniques, and she explains the tools that she likes to use for her picture-perfect designs.

The video series is an added bonus, because now you can watch Julie as she performs each step, and you can pause the video to keep up with your pace.

These butterfly cookies are super cute for summer, especially for baby or wedding showers. After you watch the video, I recommend checking out the step-by-step photos on her website.

And don’t forget to follow her on YouTube to see more fun cookie videos coming soon.

  1. Aw, thanks for such a nice post, Christie! I thought your snowflake cookies turned out beautifully over the holidays. Speaking of which….wouldn’t a few snowflakes be welcome right about now? I’m boiling!!

    1. Thanks Julie. Snowflakes would be much better than this weekend’s 116 temps. Maybe I’ll bake another batch to help pretend it’s cooler.
