Does hosting a party stress you out? Here are my two rules to starting a party off right: 1) Give ‘em a drink early, and 2) Give ‘em bacon!
You want your guests happy and wowed right up front. You want your guests mingling. Pass around a platter of sweet, crunchy, BACONuts and problem solved. They’ll all be talking about this appetizer and looking for seconds. Everything else you serve will just be icing on the cake.
People worldwide are infatuated with bacon, so when Saucy Mama announced it as the first secret ingredient in the Sliced recipe contest, I knew this dish was going to be a party pleaser. As a contestant, I have to make an appetizer using bacon and one of their delectable mustards: Hatch Chili, Creamy Garlic or Dill.
While each flavor is great in its unique way, this recipe screamed for Hatch chiles. I have a special love for Hatch chiles. They’re grown in the Hatch Valley of New Mexico and the harvest is celebrated each fall with an esteemed festival.
Saucy Mama has bottled this goodness up with a twist of mustard. Using it in this appetizer gives the bacon and nuts an added flavor that you just can’t get from chili powder alone.
I’m giving away the mustard used in this recipe, so you can make it, too. Find out how to win it here. Can’t wait for the giveaway to end? You can buy the mustard online. Just visit this link and use discount code CHR25. Shipping is free for orders over $50.
If this recipe makes the cut in the appetizer round, I’ll move onto round two where the top 15 chefs will prepare an entree with a new secret ingredient. I hope it’s as exciting as bacon.
