I love making simple syrups to complement holidays. It’s an easy, entertaining way to add excitement to the bar.
This Thanksgiving, I prepared an apple ginger simple syrup by steeping green apples and ginger in water and sugar.
Shake a little of this syrup with some vodka, and you have a dangerously tasty holiday cocktail.
Apple Ginger Martini
- 1 green apple chopped
- 1- inch ginger peeled and chopped
- 1 ½ cups sugar
- 1 ½ cups water
- pinch kosher salt
- Place all ingredients into a saucepot. Bring to a boil and reduce heat to low. Simmer for 15 minutes.
- Strain the liquid to remove the fruit. Allow the mixture to cool.
- Fill a shaker with ice. Add 1 part apple ginger syrup and 1 part vodka. Shake and strain into a martini glass.
