Spiced Pecan Simple Syrup from ZestuousDon’t let the spices in this syrup turn you off. The mild flavor of sage brings all the flavors together and takes the bite out of bourbon. With this syrup, you can make mock-eggnog in an instant. It’s great with both bourbon and rum.

Spiced Pecan Simple Syrup

Yield: 16 ounces

Serving Size: 1 ounce per cocktail

  • 1 ½ cups sugar
  • 1 ½ cups water
  • ¼ tsp. rubbed sage
  • ¼ tsp. ground cloves
  • ¼ cup chopped pecans

Place all of the ingredients in a saucepot and bring to a boil. Remove from heat. If you want more intense flavors and color, you can let the mixture cool for 30 minutes.

Strain the liquid twice to remove the pecans. Pour the cooled mixture into a bottle or pitcher.
